Following Jesus. Serving Others. Becoming the Leader God Created You to Be.

Student Lead is a leadership formation and apprenticeship experience for Grade 5-6 students that helps them follow Jesus, serve His Church, and grow into increasing responsibility and influence.

WHAT IS STUDENT LEAD?

Leadership begins by following Jesus. Student Lead is more than a leadership program. It is an intentional discipleship journey where young people are known, encouraged, entrusted with meaningful responsibility, and formed through real ministry experiences.

You Don’t Have to Think of Yourself as a Leader

You don’t have to know everything about the Bible. You don’t have to be the loudest person in the room. You simply need to be willing to learn.

Throughout the year, you will serve in a ministry within our church, learn from caring mentors, build friendships, and discover how your gifts can make a difference. You will make mistakes, ask questions, try again, and grow. That is exactly what Student Lead is about.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Learn

Each month we will explore what Scripture teaches about following Jesus, serving, character, courage, and influence.

Serve

You will practice responsibility, teamwork, humility, and initiative in a real ministry setting.

Be Mentored

A caring adult will show you how, encourage you, answer questions, and help you take increasing responsibility.

Grow

You will discover: God has created me; my gifts matter; I belong in His Church; I can make a difference today.

HOW STUDENT LEAD WORKS

Monthly Gatherings

Students gather once each month from November – June for Scripture, interaction, discussion, reflection, and a practical serving challenge. Required monthly gatherings happen the first Sunday of each month. Students can attend at either 8:30am or 10:15am.

Serving

Each student serves regularly in one primary ministry. Consistency allows skill, trust, and belonging to grow over time.

Mentoring

Students serve beside a trusted adult who models faithful leadership, gradually entrusts responsibility, and helps them reflect. A required Student + Mentor Connect will happen on Sunday, October 18.

Gather → Serve → Mentor → Reflect → Repeat.

Teaching and serving are not separate activities; together they create one formation rhythm.

WHY GRADE 5-6?

These years are a formative season for identity, belonging, faith ownership, and responsibility. Students begin asking: Who am I? Where do I belong? What am I good at? Does my faith matter?

Student Lead meets them in those questions with four grounding truths:

  • I belong here. The Church knows me, values me, and needs me.
  • God has gifted me. My gifts can bless others.
  • I can contribute today. Meaningful ministry is not reserved for adults.
  • God is shaping me. Serving is one way Jesus forms my character.
