Introduction

In today’s fast-paced, tech-driven world, screens often dominate our attention, shaping our thoughts, habits, and relationships. While technology brings tremendous benefits, it can also pull us away from God, from each other, and from the life He intends for us.

The 28-Day Digital Fast is an invitation to step back intentionally from non-essential digital distractions. This fast helps create space to focus on God, His Word, and meaningful real-life connections.

By participating, you’ll intentionally disconnect from the digital noise, reset your relationship with technology, and cultivate a life more rooted in God’s presence and written Word.

Purpose

The digital fast aims to:

  1. Recalibrate technology use — Reduce reliance on screens and compulsive use.
  2. Refocus on God’s presence — Replace digital noise with prayer, Scripture, and reflection.
  3. Reclaim meaningful relationships — Invest time and attention in people and community.
  4. Renew spiritual health — Allow stillness and simplicity to nurture greater peace, joy, and attentiveness to the Holy Spirit.

What is a Digital Fast?

Fasting is a biblical discipline of intentionally refraining from something to focus on God. A digital fast applies this principle to technology: reducing or eliminating non-essential digital engagement for a set period.

This fast is not about abandoning technology completely. Rather, it is about using devices purposefully, breaking free from constant notifications, scrolling, and digital noise, and creating space to encounter God more deeply.

Abiding in Jesus begins with giving Him our attention. This fast is a practical way to surrender your digital habits to Him.

Why Participate?

By stepping back from digital distractions, participants can:

  • Refocus on God and His purposes – Interrupt routines that pull us away from prayer, Scripture, and spiritual growth.
  • Reclaim time and attention – Replace mindless scrolling with meaningful reflection, rest, and relationships.
  • Reset habits – Break compulsive device use, lower stress, and experience greater clarity and peace.

Benefits You May Experience

  • Increased time and capacity for intimacy with Jesus.
  • Greater mental clarity and focus.
  • Stronger, more present relationships.
  • Freedom from compulsive digital behaviors.

  3. Restrict work devices to work hours: Only use technology for work tasks during scheduled hours.

Option 2: Modified Digital Fast

A flexible approach tailored to your life while still creating intentional space.

Steps:

  1. Audit smartphone apps: Limit high use apps or restrict them to specific times or days.
  2. Limit entertainment screens selectively.
  3. Use work devices only for work-related tasks during work hours.
