It's been over three weeks since friend Kinan arrived in Cochrane. Thanks to our recent weather, he now believes that "Chinooks" are mythical creatures (like Unicorns).
Notwithstanding the cold, Kinan is embracing life here with gusto. He's managed to clear a lot of milestones for example:
- He's found a comfortable long-term living arrangement - a fully furnished townhouse with a roommate. Very reasonable rent.
- He's commenced language studies with both R.V.S. and Cochrane Alliance Church.
- He's launched into the mountain of paperwork for life's many necessities: SIN number, AHS card, Bank Account, etc.
He's enjoys being reunited with his Sister and family, and finds time to help them with childcare.
He's also eager to begin developing his resume and dive deeper into English with LINC in the city.
So right now, the most urgent need for support is in the area of transportation. I'd love to talk with anyone in a position to help us procure a reliable vehicle. In the meantime, Kinan could use a lot of help with rides from his house in Heartland to various appointments. Kinan needs a ride to/from his Language Class at Manachaban on Mondays from 6:30-8:30pm. There are also spontaneous trips to the store or appointments where Kinan will need a ride. Any help with transportation is much appreciated.
The commitment for the full year is approximately $14,000 plus transportation. So far in we've raised $1,800 since starting last month. Thank you to those who have partnered with us financially so far. If you want to contribute financially you can contact the office of Cochrane Alliance Church ([email protected] - 403-932-6100), or contribute online here. Make donations payable to Cochrane Alliance with "Kinan Sponsorship" in the memo.
Thanks again for all you help. Kinan also thanks you from the bottom of his heart.
