Youth Calendar for Winter/Spring 2022 available here.

Purpose

We are a growing family of students; pursuing Jesus, transformed by God, changing the world through the Spirit.

Who is this for?

Our youth ministry is for those currently in grade 6-12.

What are we about?

Creating space for youth to experience healthy community, build authentic relationships and grow in their likeness to Christ.

Why do we gather?

Relationships are the most powerful shaping influence in the life of a youth. The need for authentic and functional community is higher than ever. Many youth feel alone despite endless “connection” on social media. Youth need empathetic and warm relationships that arise organically and authentically. We strive to create spaces for youth and leaders to form these relationships and also give space for them to form naturally and in a variety of rhythms. We believe that the thriving life which we all long for is found in a community pursuing relationship with God.

We want to help youth cultivate four vital relationships; God, parents, mentors and friends. True discipleship will happen in the context of healthy relationships.

When do we meet?

All grades meet on Wednesday nights from 7:00-9:00pm on site at Cochrane Alliance Church. Please ensure that you have completed our online waiver for the 2021-2022 ministry year.

What to expect?

Wednesday Nights will consist of two 1-hour blocks. One block will be given to the value of belong "hangouts" and the other block will be given to the value of grow "anchor crews".

Hangouts are intentional time and space intended to help youth build meaningful relationships and authentic community. This time is designed to create a place where all youth know they belong. Things such as board games, video games, sports, paint nights, baking competitions and more will be offered through the year. At times we will also offer options that support youth in discerning purpose and calling in their life. Youth are welcome to even bring homework to do during this time if this would allow for them to connect with us and their peers.

Anchor Crews focus on spiritual discipleship, helping youth grow in their likeness to Christ. The time will include large group teaching and time in small groups - anchor crews. Sharing life through community is part of our design, but meaningful relationships aren't always easy to find. That's why small groups exist - to make these life-changing relationships relevant and accessible to youth.

    Grade 6 - 8   Grade 9 - 12
  7:00 - 8:00pm   Anchor Crews   Hangouts
  8:00 - 9:00pm   Hangouts   Anchor Crews

Friday Night Events - A night of fun and connecting for all youth grades 6-12.  Events will vary in cost and location.

Retreats - These are great opportunities for individuals and our group as a whole to build community.  Weekend trips provide opportunities and an atmosphere for community building that cannot be recreated in other contexts.  This is a great chance for this group to really grow in relationship with each other and with God and have fun doing it!

Waiver

In order for youth to participate in any activities in the upcoming school year, parents are required to complete our online waiver.  This is a one time waiver that will cover participation in all activities between September 2021 and August 2022.
