In keeping with one of the purposes of Cochrane Alliance Church and our Youth Ministry value to LIVE ON MISSION, we are travelling to work with Pastor Victor of Jesus Viene Church in San Raymundo, Guatemala. This longstanding partnership has evolved into one of close family ties, and after a long hiatus, we are very excited to return to Guatemala to serve and love our brothers and sisters.
Youth in grades 9-12 and their parents who would like to learn more about our Missions Trip to Guatemala in February 2025 are invited to join us for an Information Session.
We will discuss costs, dates, projects, and fundraising, and answer any questions we can. We will also discuss the application process and the level of commitment we will require from students and parents
The Information Session will be September 18th in the Bow Room (2nd Floor) during the last part of Youth Large Group from 8 pm - 9 pm. The Mission Trip last about 10 days between February 12 - 26, exact dates TBD.
Cochrane Alliance Church has a long-standing partnership with Pastor Victor and the Jesus Viene Alliance Church in San Raymundo, Guatemala that began in 2010. The church and its associated school are not only focused on education of the children but the strengthening of family stability within the community. As our original project, the building of the school has been completed, we are excited to begin working with Inglesia Evangelica Ascuncion, a church that Pastor Victor has been working closely with for the last few years.
Iglesia Evangelica Asuncion is dedicated to building a new building. They have already created plans for what they hope will eventually be a four-story building that includes a parking lot, sanctuary, classrooms, and an office and living space for the pastor. Their first step is to build new concrete walls around the outside of their current building. Once this is complete, they will deconstruct the tin structure and add a more permanent roof. This will then be used as the sanctuary until they can raise funds for a second story. When the second story is complete, they will be able to use the bottom floor for parking and the top floor as the sanctuary. Eventually, they would then add the top two floors. The building of the main walls for the first floor will cost $55,000 but the church has already raised enough money to buy supplies for the footings. Teams from Cochrane would be able to continue staying at Pastor Victor's house while working on projects with Iglesia Evangelica Asuncion alongside brothers and sisters from Jesus Viene.
Projects for this trip have not been finalized but the following are possibilities:
