Video(s) of the Week
As you've seen from my posts thus far, a lot of videos on the web are trivial. For me the best videos are usually about something funny or surprising. But, believe it or not, there's a lot of content out there that might actually expand your brain rather than contract it. And so for those of you who like learning (and being entertained at the same time) I refer you to ted.com
TED is a small nonprofit devoted to spreading worthwhile ideas. It started out as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become much broader. Every year, at conferences in Long Beach and Oxford, TED brings together the world's most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes). The videos of those talks are then posted online. For free. So go to www.ted.com and expand your mind.
Below is a little sample from a Swedish statistics guru named Hans Rosling. Rosling uses graphs to debunk myths about the so-called "developing world." His talk proves to me that even statistics can be entertaining. To watch this on TED, click here.
