I kissed TV goodbye (for a night)
It can be done. I am returning from the front lines—alive, with minimal scarring. I am, as I write this, saying “no” to the television even though there are fifty reasons why I could be saying “yes.” I worked hard all day. I played with my kids. I read to them and put them to bed. My wife is out of town so there is no one in the house who wants to talk to me. I set aside time earlier today for prayer, so I am even caught-up with Jesus! I know what you are thinking. I am thinking it too! I deserve time on the couch. Don’t I?
But I decided against it. I shovelled my driveway instead, and then tag-teamed another driveway with my neighbour. I think I slowed her down because of my incessant talking, but I enjoyed the conversation. I possibly enjoyed it even more than taking in an episode of CSI or Criminal Minds or whatever inspirational and uplifting show was on tonight.
Then I did the recycling and a load of laundry.
Well...at least I enjoyed the shovelling. You can’t win them all.
