Well, it looks like I was out-of-line with my little rant about the media's over-estimation of the death toll in Haiti (see Christians in Haiti below). The latest estimates (January 20th) are in the vicinity of 200,000. And I thought that 50,000 was staggering ...a number like that is beyond my ability to comprehend.
Two pieces of good news in light of such darkness.
1) As a congregation we raised $5,795 for the Global Emergency Response Fund on Sunday the 17th alone. Way to go Cochrane Alliance!
2) Last week I told you that Brent and Mandy Trask from Rockpointe Church were in Haiti shortly after the quake hit. Turns out that they were on the road to their hotel when it happened. They were interviewed at Rockpointe this past Saturday night and you can see their interview here. The video is about 20 minutes long. Among other feelings it generated within me was pride for our Canadian Military.
