Haiti Update
Written by Jason Koleba
Friday, 15 January 2010 14:53

Since my last post I have learned a couple more tidbits of information that may be of interest.

a) All donations for Haiti earthquake relief that are sent to The Christian and Missionary Alliance and designated to the Global Emergency Response Fund and are received between January 12th and February 12th WILL QUALIFY for the Canadian Government’s commitment to match donations dollar for dollar. So if you'd like to contribute to relief efforts through our church, your dollars will be well-used.

b) Word has it that the Trasks and Carters are back on Canadian soil. If Brent addresses the Rockpointe community this weekend, I'll do my best to link you to the audio or video (if that's at all possible) so you can hear the story.

c) The death toll is now officially at 50,000. While that is much better than the 100,000 estimate I complained about in my previous post, it is still mind-boggling. To think that every person you know would have a story of losing someone. I haven't cried watching the news in a long time, but I did last night.

d) If you want to see some recent video footage that is filmed and commented upon by Haitian videographers, click here.

e) AND...don't you love it when Christian leaders attempt to explain why God allows these kinds of things to happen? Click here to watch Pat Robertson do his best to give Jesus a bad name.

I hope no one takes Robertson seriously. He has a history of these kinds of insensive statements.

Pat Robertson is notorious for saying these kinds of things.I hope that fair minded people don't tar us all with the same brush.

I agree Bob. You would hope people realize that not all Christians think this way, but sometimes these prominent guys are painted as people who DO speak for us.
