Notes:	Just as we are today, the Israelites of Malachi’s time were aghast at the preponderance and apparent success of evil and wondered at the constancy and justice of God. Through Malachi, God told them (and us) that He does not change and that he would “draw near to [them] for judgement” and purify them as a refiner’s fire purifies silver so that they might once again be pleasing to the Lord as in the days of old.
